‘Seasons’ Watercolour Exhibition by Artist Grahame Booth

On Saturday 25th August at 2pm, Castle Espie Gallery, nature through art, will be opening the doors to the watercolour exhibition ‘Seasons’. This is the inspired title of an exhibition by Belfast artist Grahame Booth. The exhibition will run from Saturday 25th August to Sunday 9th September 2012 and there is no entrance cost to the gallery. Grahame paints exclusively using watercolours, saying “Watercolour is an unforgiving medium, immensely frustrating when searching for an elusive effect and incredibly uplifting when the water and paint combine to deliver the rich transparency that makes watercolour unique”.

Grahame was born in 1955 and lives and works in Belfast. He paints only in watercolour and his success with the medium is reflected in the many awards he has won. The most recent being the Artist’s Choice Award at the 2011 Art in the Open, Wexford International Painting Festival. Adding to his many achievements, Grahame is also a past president of the Ulster Watercolour Society and a full elected member of the ASU.

Grahame says: “This exhibition reflects the seasons of the year, and how they change our perception of the landscape in which we live. Whether the subject is the countryside, the coast, or towns and cities...I aim to capture the essence of the light, colour and atmosphere that drives me to paint”.
