Enjoy a magical Christmas at WWT Martin Mere
With a record count of 2489 Whooper swans on the reserve, over 10,000 Pink-footed geese and our family of otters, Christmas is a great time to visit WWT Martin Mere’s winter wildlife wonderland.
Centre Manager, Andy Wooldridge, said: “At this time of year, particularly when there is a frost, Martin Mere’s landscape is absolutely stunning. It is perfect for anyone with an interest in photography to come along and get some great atmospheric photographs, or anyone that simply enjoys being outside at this time of year, whether you want to walk off the Christmas lunch or start a New Years resolution”.
The swan feeds take place every day at 10.30am, 10.45am, 3pm & 3.30pm. The feeds at 10.45am and 3.30pm take place inside a heated observatory ensuring that you can watch thousands of birds feed from comfort and enjoy a wardens talk at the same time.
In addition, you can also take part in a variety of family Christmas crafts and take part in our free Wetland Winter Olympics where you can jump like a frog, flap your wings like a bird and balance like a duck, even making your own medal when you have completed all of the challenges.
Activities take place at Martin Mere everyday from Saturday 22 December to Sunday 6 January 2013. For further information, please view the website at www.wwt.org.uk/martinmere.
