Facilities
Eating
Relax in the Water’s Edge Restaurant with its spectacular view of the Caribbean Flamingos. Enjoy a delicious selection of home made sandwiches, salads, hot meals and tempting cakes created with the very best, fair trade, locally sourced produce. Whatever time of day there is always mouthwatering treats on offer. Take a relaxing brunch with friends before exploring or watch the sun go down with a glass of wine.
The Water's Edge Restaurant can also be hired in the evening for a spectacular event.
Shopping
The gift shop stocks a wide range of homewares, wildlife books, outdoor clothing, bird feeders/boxes, cards, postcards and stationery, children's gifts and souvenirs of your visit to the centre.
We sell a unique range of products featuring the artwork of WWT founder Sir Peter Scott.
We stock a range of locally grown peat free composted plants - ideal for the conservationist who loves gardening.
Each year we hold a 2 day Christmas Market selling everything from local produce to handmade jewellry and artworks. Check our events page for dates of shopping events at Slimbridge.
There is also an In Focus optics shop at the centre selling everything you will ever need to watch wildlife - from budget binoculars starting at around £30 to deluxe telescopes at over £1000. In Focus is the ideal place to get honest, friendly advice about buying your first pair of binoculars and a percentage of all sales goes to the conservation work of the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust.
Wildlife art
The art gallery plays host to six exhibitions of wildlife art each year. All mediums are shown from water colours to 3D works. It’s a wonderful place to find one off pieces at extremely affordable prices and a percentage of all sales goes to the conservation work of the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust.
Cinema
Pay a visit to Slimbridge’s 92 seat cinema to enjoy screenings of wildlife inspired documentaries and films.

Terms of entry
Slimbridge is a working nature reserve and home to many wonderful species. Our aim is to bring people and nature closer together to the benefit of all. As such we ask our visitors to help us by following our simple guidelines.
- Stay to the marked pathways.
- Be thoughtful to the inhabitants of Slimbridge when you’re making your way around the grounds – too much noise makes some of the birds uncomfortable.
- The hides are just that, places where you can hide to see wildlife in its natural surroundings – as such any major noise from the viewing hides can really disturb the animals outside.
- Photography is permitted – but for your own personal use only. Any commercial / stock library photography must be agreed in advance and is subject to a fee.
- Because of the nature of the site we have a policy of permitting no animals except trained assistance dogs.
- Respect the inhabitants of Slimbridge and when in doubt of the best way to do this, ask a member of the Slimbridge team.
- You can buy grain from Slimbridge to feed to the birds. Please don’t feed them bread – they will eat it but, in time, it will make them poorly.
