We create and restore wetlands to help reverse the loss of these important areas throughout the world. In the UK, our own 2,000 hectares of wetland wildlife reserves include seven sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs), five Special Protection Areas (SPAs) and five internationally important Ramsar sites and provide winter refuge for more than 150,000 waterbirds.- We develop skills to create new wetland ecosystems out of degraded land or farmland which is no longer used, and manage those falling into neglect, both in the UK and abroad.
- We share knowledge about the loss and degradation of wetlands around the world. WWT’s experience in wetland restoration, creation, management and visitor access is now being applied internationally through the organisation’s consulting arm, WWT Consulting.
