Using the power of football our intention is to improve the local environment by supporting schools in educating children in how they can help make their local environment a better place through recycling and have fun at the same time through participation in football.
To do this, PNE has partnered with WWT Martin Mere to pilot an environmental partnership for one year with the intention of ultimately delivering a three year project to create environmental awareness in schools and local communities. An average of 340,000 avian visitors per year make it one of the most important wetland sites in Britain for migratory and breeding birds. The area's environmental significance together with its location between Merseyside and the Lake District resulted in its being recognised as a potential regional park for the north west.
