Below are the finalists of 2009 Nikon photography competition
A pintail, a shelduck and a little grebe featured in the winning images of the WWT Nikon Photography Competition, announced on 27 October 2009 at an awards ceremony held at the WWT London Wetland Centre.

General winner: Wayne Davies, 'taking a ducking'
The competition showcased the talents of photographers of all ages, whilst also celebrating the wealth of wildlife and wetland experiences on offer to visitors at WWT’s nine UK centres.
Alexander Baker, from Horsham picked up top prize for the junior category with his photo entitled ‘I’m a little greeby’, which was shot at WWT Arundel. The winner of the general photography prize was Wayne Davies from Swansea for his photo called ‘taking a ducking’, taken at WWT Llanelli. And finally, the winner of the digiscoping category was Paul Jarvis from Rufford for his photo called ‘perfection in the evening’, taken at WWT Martin Mere.

The judging panel comprised TV presenter Chris Packham, Tim Hunnable (Nikon UK Ltd), Peter Day (WWT council), Marcus Hawkins (Digital Camera magazine) and Sheena Harvey (Editor, Bird Watching Magazine)

Digiscoping winner: Paul Jarvis, 'perfection in the evening'
Displayed below are the national winners and 24 finalists from each of our nine WWT wetland centres around the UK, as chosen by local judges. The finalists each won a pair of Nikon 8 x 25 Travelite EX binoculars and the national winners received superb prizes of Nikon photographic and digiscoping equipment worth thousands of pounds.
