Between 3rd December to 12pm on 10th December, any donations you make via the Big Give website will be matched. So, for every £1 you donate it becomes £2 - you’ll be doubling your impact at no extra cost to you!

The clock is ticking

There are fewer than 50 breeding pairs of black-tailed godwits now left in the UK. Unless we act now these birds could disappear as soon as 2025.

But we have a plan. Donating to our Big Give Christmas Challenge gives you the power to do even more to help save this spectacular bird.

Support our world-first breeding programme

We know what’s needed to save the UK’s black-tailed godwits – but we urgently need donations to put our plan into action. And this is an amazing chance to double your impact.

We’ve been busy saving godwit eggs from floods and predators and raising chicks using incubators. Now we’ve set up the world’s first black-tailed godwit conservation breeding programme. But we need your help to keep it running and create new godwit breeding sites at wetlands across the UK.

FAQs

: Big Give is the UK’s leading match fundraising charity and has raised over £1bn for good causes in the last decade.

: When you donate to WWT through our Big Give fundraising page, your donation will be matched by WWT pledgers and/or Big Give funders (philanthropists, foundations or corporates). So, for example, a £20 donation will become a £40 donation.

: Your donation will either be matched by a Big Give Champion, The Reed Foundation, or a WWT Pledger – someone within our network of supporters who has generously agreed to provide funding.

: You will be told if matching funds are available or not when you donate. When donating, match funds are reserved for 30 minutes to complete the donation. All donations are matched in real-time, and you can see how much match funding has been allocated to your donation.

: You can donate to WWT and our black-tailed godwit appeal at any time here. However, for your donation to be doubled you must donate via our Big Give page between 3rd December and 12pm 10th December.

: Donations will be doubled up to maximum of £27,900 (total pot of £55,800). If we reach that total, every subsequent gift will still make a vital difference in our battle to save black-tailed godwits.

: No, only your donation will be matched.

: All donations will help to restore our wetlands and protect black-tailed godwits and other species that depend on them for survival.
