CMA CGM
Global shipping company CMA CGM has committed to supporting improvement works at WWT Martin Mere over a three year period.
WWT Martin Mere, near Ormskirk in Lancashire and close to CMA CGM’s UK head office in Liverpool, extends to 600 acres. Over the last 20 years, a lack of funding and poor water quality has had a negative impact on wildlife, habitats and the overall biodiversity of the centre.
Thanks to CMA CGM’s support, the centre will benefit from significant improvements that will help to improve water quality and boost flood resilience, including cutting back overgrown vegetation and replacing sluices and weirs. Further work to improve the accessibility and signage across the centre will make new opportunities for WWT to engage with the local community.
Peter Lee, WWT’s Head of Philanthropy and Partnerships, said:
Partner with us"WWT is delighted to be partnering with CMA CGM. Their valuable contribution will support us in delivering an important programme of works at our Martin Mere reserve, as part of our mission to restore wetlands in the UK.
“CMA CGM has a strong track record for supporting environmental causes, and partnerships like this are vital to help us reverse the decline in wetlands and showcase the immense benefits they bring to wildlife and communities.”
