WWT was thrilled to return to the first People's Postcode Lottery Charity Gala in Edinburgh since 2019, celebrating all that has been achieved by thousands of charities thanks to players of People's Postcode Lottery, who raised an incredible £173 million in 2021. Players have now raised more than £900 million for good causes in Britain and beyond since 2005.
WWT received an amazing £500,000 of funding raised by players of People’s Postcode Lottery for our work in 2021 which was essential in delivering our programme of conservation projects, as well as inspiring and engaging children and adults at our wetland centers around the UK. In true People's Postcode Lottery style, CEO Sarah Fowler could be seen waving WWT's large cheque in celebration, alongside other incredible supported charities.
WWT had the pleasure of chatting with the People's Postcode Lottery team and players, as well as members of the many supported charities. Attendees were entertained by surprise performer Texas and heard from the courageous Welsh rugby star and HIV campaigner Gareth Thomas, who was named this year’s Postcode Hero, in recognition of his work to tackle the stigma around HIV.
It was a fantastic night of celebration, and here at WWT, we feel truly grateful for the support of players of People's Postcode Lottery.
