A Ruff having a stretch from Discovery hide

Kingfisher Hide

It was busy looking out from Kingfisher Hide this morning. A chiffchaff was seen quite close to the hide, eating insects from underneath the flower heads. A little grebe adult was seen on the water feeding a youngster with a few Tufted duck around too. A Sparrowhawk flew past the hide, briefly perching in a tree before flying off and a Marsh harrier was also seen flying low over the newly cut Bottom New Piece field.

Zeiss Hide

A good few things to see on the Top New piece from Zeiss Hide, 156 Black-tailed Godwit, 6 Dunlin, 3 Little ringed plover, 3 Avocet, 87 Lapwing, 4 Green sandpipers and 1 Spotted redshank. One crane adult and the juvenile also flew over the ditch between Top new piece and the Bottom new piece to join the other adult, which was great to see!

South Lake

From Hogarth Hide there were 9 Green sandpiper and 2 Little ringed plover were visible. And then from Discovery Hide there were 253 Black-tailed godwit, 28 Redshank, 14 Ruff, 7 Green sandpipers, 1 Adult crane visible with 2 chicks, 1 Little egret and a Little ringed plover.

Decoy Hide

From here there were 4 Tufted duck, 4 Coot, 2 Adult Little grebe, and a juvenile Little grebe also, most likely from another area of the reserve.

Estuary Tower

From the Estuary tower, there were 2 Roe deer and a Little Egret on the pond to the left of the hide.

Tack Piece

From Robbie Garnet hide 8 Little Egret were visible, 6 Lapwing, 3 Moorhen and 3 Green sandpiper.
