British Steel Hide

Both Marsh and Hen Harrier have been seen hunting out over the saltmarsh recently, occasionally flushing up a few Snipe from the long grass. The Spoonbills continue to be seen, both from the British Steel and Observatory hides. A pair of Spotted Redshanks have been seen regularly often spending time feeding with the Greenshank flock. Out on the estuary over 350 Brent Geese were seen feeding out on the mud as well as over 100 Pintail.

Millennium Wetlands

The Otter family was seen fishing right in front of the Herons Wing Hide for over an hour yesterday morning and a Kingfisher was briefly seen on the Lily Pond, both great species to see on World Wetlands Day! Good numbers of Snipe have been roosting on the Stony Islands with 26 seen there yesterday. A Barn Owl was seen from the Herons Wing Hide yesterday during the late afternoon.
