Missing Tundra Bean Goose

At feed times, 0800hrs and 1600hrs the lake is alive with birds. Over 100 Bewick's Swans are on site, most of them can be seen here. The flock dispersed to the road fields, Dumbles and out to the estuary at low tide during late morning/early afternoon. 200 Tufted Duck, 60 Pochard, 60 Pintail and 80 Shelduck coukd be seen. The Little Stint was present with a couple of Dunlin and 60 Lapwing for company.

Tack Piece (Robbie Garnett, Martin Smith and Stephen Kirk Hides)

Most of the E. White-fronted Goose flock were present (95) as well as smaller numbers of Canada Geese. A Little Egret was on the pond in the SE corner and increasing numbers of Teal and Wigeon on the scrape fleet. At least 13 Cranes were seen visiting the field today.

Holden Tower

In the bushes below a flock of 7 Reed Bunting were noted, the Mistle Thrush was defending Mistletoe berries. The Barnacle and Canada Goose flocks grazed on the saltmarsh.

South Lake

Black-tailed Godwits and Lapwing were on the wader scrape as well as Teal and Greylag Geese. On the deep lake a Great Crested Grebe, 30 Pochard, 25 Tufted Duck and 3 Cormorants.

Zeiss Hide/Kingfisher Hide (Top and Bottom New Piece)

Much movement between the two fields/floods, 550 Wigeon, 500 Teal, 97 Pintail and smaller numbers of Mallard were feeding. It was very productive for waders with 120 Golden Plover, 27 Curlew, 5+ Ruff, Spotted Redshank, 20 Black-tailed Godwit, 8 Redshank, 17 Snipe and 1000+ Lapwing.

No reported sightings of the Tundra Bean Goose or Brent Geese today.
