Further Bewick's Swan and Lapwing departures

Dunlin now outnumber Lapwing on the reserve, the latter species has departed in numbers this week.

Rushy Pen

51 Bewick's Swans present this morning with another family of 5 out in the fields. 140+ Pintail, 80 Pochard, 120 Tufted Duck and two Cranes present.

Tack Piece

We still have 163 E. White-fronted Geese here today, so none have departed thus far. A flock of over 300 Wigeon are feeding adjacent to the scrape.

Willow Hide/viewing slots in wall

Water Rail, Snipe and Shoveler today.

South Lake

On the wader scrape a flock of 254 Black-tailed Godwit, 2 Red Knot, 25 Avocet and 30 Lapwing. Over 100 Shoveler were scattered about the lake.

Zeiss Hide

Seven Redshank feeding on the flood, 250 Wigeon grazing and a few Pochard, Teal and Mallard.

Holden Tower

Five Skylark around the scrape, a Peregrine flew past hunting and 180+ Barnacle Geese grazing with 10 Canada Geese. Over the tide 25 Great Black-backed Gull and 40 Shelduck were on the Dumbles. Around 6 male Lapwing are on territory.

Kingfisher Hide

On the Bottom New Piece there were 402 Golden Plover, 7 Curlew, 80 Lapwing, 450 Dunlin and 19 Ruff.
