Pintail arriving on the Tack Piece flood

Rushy Hide and Peng Observatory

100+ Bewick's Swans roosted overnight and were present at dawn, they mostly spent the day on the Tack Piece. We now have a pair of Oystercatcher that appear to be territorial.

Tack Piece

Plenty of action and incredible sounds with so many birds calling or displaying. At least 47 Curlew, 32 Ruff and 81 Redshank were among the large flocks of Lapwing, Golden Plover, Dunlin, Wigeon, Pintail, Teal and Shoveler. Pochard and Tufted Duck are also gathering here to day-roost in the deeper water.

Holden Tower

The Red-breasted Goose was still with the Barnacle Geese, a flock of 150+ Canada Geese were also on the Dumbles. A Little Stint and two Dunlin was on the Dumbles scrape with the Wigeon and Lapwing. Two Buzzard were settled on posts and a Peregrine was hunting over the estuary this morning.

Zeiss Hide

It's been a little bit quieter here over the last two days, at least during the hide round period early morning, it gets busier through the day. 700 Lapwing, 400 Wigeon and 360 Teal were seen but only one Snipe.

South Lake

On the wader scrape we had 127 Black-tailed Godwit, 6 Avocet, 1 Oystercatcher, 1 Ruff 800 Lapwing and c30 Shoveler.
