Sandwich Tern again

Migrants

Plenty of Swallows over the pools and scrapes today, a few Sand Martin with them. A Sandwich Tern over the Severn at 0845am kept the near daily run of sightings going. A Reed Warbler was singing near the Holden Tower, Sedge Warblers were singing at the Kingfisher Hide, 2 in the canoe trail and one in the Decoy. An increase in Chiffchaff and Willow Warbler was also of note.

New in yesterday was Reed Warbler and a female Goosander that called in on the Top New Piece for a short time, it flew off N. Two Sandwich Terns flew through the Rushy Pen.

Tack Piece

50 Wigeon, 18 Curlew, 12 Redshank, small numbers of Shoveler and Teal and a pair of Oystercatcher.

Holden Tower

Peregrine on the logs and driftwood, 12 Greylag, 3 Canada Goose, 12 Avocet, pair of Oystercatcher and 10 Lapwing.

Kingfisher Hide

The female Kingfisher was resting in the willow to the right of the hole at 0930am, Willow Warbler, Cetti's Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Chiffchaff and Blackcap all singing. 5 Linnet flew through heading N. A Kestrel, 5 Reed Bunting and a pair of Bullfinch were seen yesterday.

South Lake

446 Black-tailed Godwit, male Ruff, 8 Avocet, 1 Snipe flew over. 3+ Mediterranean Gulls were among the 300 Black-headed Gull, pair of Great Crested Grebe and 7 Cormorant.

Canoe Trail/Decoy

2-3 Cetti's Warbler calling. Two Cattle Egret flew through N before veering across the Rushy Pen and heading NE.
