A cast of Falcons

Lots of Peregrine activity this morning, a small adult male was hunting lwaders over the Zeiss Hide followed shortly after by a young female that harassed the wader flocks for half an hour. An adult female left a kill in front of the Kingfisher hide to a Buzzard and some crows.

Rushy

Possibly some increase overnight at least 114 Bewick's Swan this morning. The hybrid Wigeon X Chiloe Wigeon that looks remarkably like an American Wigeon was here again. Lots of waders as well with 800 Lapwing and one each of Redshank, Dunlin and Little Stint.

Holden Tower

Good high tide again this morning which pushed the Brent Goose into view briefly. Lots of Barnacle, Greylag and Canada Geese and a huge roving flock of around 5000 Lapwing but only around 20 Golden Plover so far. The high tide roost held at least 83 GBB Gulls and a Mistle thrush was jealously guarding the mistletoe close to the hide.
The Whitefront flock is feeding in the Stallhouse field 3 fields to the NE of the Holden but flying back onto the Dumbles around mid-day.
A Water Rail was in front of the Martin Smith Hide.

Zeiss Hide

Very birdy here, 840 Teal, 500 Wigeon, the largest part of the roving Lapwing and Golden Plover flock. A good count of 18 Ruff and 620 Dunlin with a Little Stint flying with them at one point. There were also 17 Black Tailed Godwit and 27 Curlew.
Two Water Rail were in the small pool close to the path at the Van-De-Bovenkamp hide.

South Lake

Still fairly quiet here except for several hundred Lapwing and a few Curlew passing over. Over 200 Tufted Duck moving between here and the Big Pen and 21 Pochard and a lone Great Crested Grebe.
