Male Ruff on the South Lake

We may now have eleven males and the adult reeve on site.

Rushy Hide

One of the Avocet families (family of 4) has moved out to the estuary but the other five families remain. Tufted Duck broods are easy to see on the top pond and a variety of moulting duck which include Gadwall, Mallard and the large mixed Shelduck brood.

Tack Piece

20+ Lapwing and a male Ruff in the afternoon, 12 Green Sandpiper and a few Teal on the scrape. Common Gull also present. 3+ Yellow Wagtail dropped onto the scrape for a time.

Pill Box Pool

Three Green Sandpiper and lots of Reed Warblers along the reed edge.

Middle Point

Three adult Yellow-legged Gulls among the large gull roost at low tide. Curlew and Shelduck on the mudflats at low tide and a few Dunlin.

Holden Tower

Family parties of Linnets and Swallows, 8+ Sand Martin feeding over the cattle.

33+ Dunlin, 2 Avocet, 2 Green Sandpiper, 158 Black-tailed Godwit, 15 Redshank, 10 male Ruff and one adult Reeve, 170+ Lapwing, brood of Shelduck, 2 broods of Mallard, dozens of Reed Warblers in the reed bed below Zeiss Hide. A Common Tern has fished here on and off today.

South Lake

30 Redshank, 3 Oystercatcher and a male Ruff early morning but seemed to move to other scrapes later. 7 Teal, 3 Shoveler and a large flock of moulting Mallard and Gadwall on the deep lake. The Great Crested Grebe family were still on deep lake.
