A few more swans

Bewick's Swans increased again this morning with 58 birds now on the Rushy, but still just our two family groups - a brood of three with parents Dario and Bridges, and a single cygnet with parents Stephen and Shelby.

Robbie Garnett Hide

Amongst the several thousand duck on the Tack Piece were several Shelduck and Shoveler.  A single Redshank and Ruff were hidden in the flock of 737 Lapwing.

Holden Tower

A group of five Cranes were on the Dumbles this morning, they being Ruby and her two juveniles plus the two unringed adults.  At least another five Cranes were to the Severn Ground to the north of the Tack Piece.

South Finger Walkway

Sightings included a Great Spotted Woodpecker, 2 Treecreeper, Goldcrest, a mixed tit flock and 20+ Chaffinch.

Zeiss Hide

Counts on the Top New Piece included 670 Wigeon, 527 Lapwing, 215 Dunlin, 18 Snipe, 9 Black-tailed Godwit, 72 Pintail, 450 Teal, a Cetti’s Warbler, a Grey Heron and 116 Canada Geese.

South Lake Hides

Birds this morning included 175 Lapwing, 10 Black-tailed Godwit, Great Crested Grebe, 24 Shelduck, 36 Shoveler, 2 Pintail and 96 Teal.
