Wigeon

Somewhat lower numbers of Wigeon over the past week but a real return to form today. At least 4000 birds in impressive flocks at the Robbie Garnett, Holden Tower and most impressively close up under the Van De Bovenkamp Hide.

Wader flocks

Hugely impressive again, totals of at least 5000 Lapwing. 450 Golden Plover and around 700 Dunlin. Very mobile but great views From Zeiss and Kingfisher Hides, Holden Tower even Rushy and South Lake

Rushy

Bewick's Swan 112 at least, the strange American type Wigeon hybrid was here all day and single Little Stint and Dunlin and Redshank through the middle of the day.

Holden Tower and Walkway.

The Bewick's spent most of the day on the Dumbles along with 900 Canada, Barnacle and Greylag Geese and a single Brent. Peregrines on and off all day a Marsh Harrier around midday and two Ravens all morning. We are currently bringing up levels at the Martin Smith hide which has pulled in good numbers of Teal and Pintail a real photo opportunity with lots of displaying only a few feet in front of the hide. at least 13 Cranes have been on the Tack Piece most of the day again often very close to the Robbie Garnett Hide. The Whitefronted Goose Flock were a couple of fields north in the Stallhouse Ground , the best chance to see them is to be around the Tack Piece just after midday when they come in to drink.

Zeiss Hide
