An incredible journey with a Top Trumps twist
Prepare to go on an incredible journey this autumn and learn about the amazing migration of wetland animals... by playing Top Trumps.
Yes, you heard right. As part of the incredible journeys activities this half term, you’re invited to play GIANT Top Trumps with WWT Washington Wetland Centre.
So pick up a scorecard and follow the trail of 12 giant wetland animal cards hidden throughout the site. There are 5 categories - size, cuteness, ferocity, wackiness and Top Trumps Rating - how many categories can your card win against our GIANT cards?
Each card represents a different wetland animal such as the popular Asian short-clawed otter, kingfisher and flamingo. No matter what age, everyone will enjoy playing the classic game – it’s sure to bring the competitive side out in you!
WWT Washington’s Centre Manager Gill Pipes said, “Not only is the trail great fun, it’s a fantastic way for visitors to learn a little something about migratory species such as barnacle geese and Bewick’s swans; they’re fascinating and their migration journey is just incredible.
“The Top Trumps trail is an ideal way to introduce these amazing animals to visitors - they tell a great story; one we hope will spark an interest in nature among every one of our visitors. Many of the animals on the cards can be found here which makes it even more exciting.”
Washington Wetland Centre is playing host to the Giant Top Trumps trail during October half term from 22 October – 13 November. It forms part of WWT’s 70th anniversary celebration. Visitors can have fun playing at home too, discovering fascinating facts and finding out more about WWT’s amazing conservation projects with their own pack of wetland animal Top Trumps.
