A rather windy start to the day with birds adapting to the conditions and the sunshines through. A small flock of Sand Martin are feeding low over the Loop Field between the Hogarth Hide and bridge, whilst a large flock of Black-headed Gulls ride the waves on the Top New Piece.

Hogarth Hide
A pair of Little Ringed Plover could be heard calling. They are moving between the South Lake and the new scrape in the Canal Ground nearby. The small flock of Sand Martin feeding between the hide and the bridge, low over Loop Field, are trying to keep out of the wind to find breakfast.

Kingfisher Hide
The off-duty Crane was in the Four Score field. The leg rings reveal this was Sherbert, the female, meaning Oakie (male) is on the nest on the Top New Piece. There was no sign of the Kingfishers this morning but this was to be expected given the windy weather.

Zeiss Hide
The Glossy Ibis was feeding with seven Black-tailed Godwit outside the Van de Bovenkamp Hide again this morning. Out on the Top New Piece were two Mediterranean Gull, a third calendar year and a second calendar year bird, loafing with 398 Black-headed Gull. Also of note were 20 Avocet, four Shoveler, the nesting Crane and another 35 Black-tailed Godwit.
