Autumn migrant passage
Autumn migration is underway, with a number of species passing through en route to their wintering grounds.
Yesterday, 5 crossbill were spotted flying overhead and tonight, a record 52 black-tailed godwit were on site - 40 on Wader Lake and 12 on the saline lagoon - along with a lone ruff.
Some of the godwit actually de-camped to the stream outside of the centre earlier because of the essential habitat work going on near Wader Lake.
Nice to have them so close to visitors for a short while! :-)
