Bearded Reedlings

A group of 8 Bearded Tit have been seen once again on site, these are almost certainly the birds from October last year which have only been reported a few times since the original sightings last year. The birds were seen independently by two observers today near the first large pool by the footpath on the Community Reedbed Walk, then later further along the path near the Sewage Works.

Other sightings today include 2 adult Mediterranean Gulls on the Mere among large numbers of Black-headed Gulls and a few Common Gull. A single Curlew and 2 Dunlin were new waders other than the usual 50+ Avocet, 89 Oystercatcher, 23 Black-tailed Godwit, 1000 Lapwing.

A Peregrine was around briefly in the morning as well as an imm Marsh Harrier, also the usual several Common Buzzard and a Kestrel.

Cetti's Warbler was again heard on the Reedbed walk and at least 3 Butterflies were seen on site today, a Small Tortoiseshell and 2 Brimstone
