Beaver catch - night 4
Last night I set the traps at 4.30 - 5pm. I had the night off (woohoo) so Julia checked them at 8pm and there wasn't anything in the traps but they were swimming around.
At Midnight Mum and the kit from the first night had been caught. They where scanned to check who they were and then released back in to the pen.
4am –nothing caught
8am – nothing caught
So all in all not a very successful night! This morning I checked the footage from the CCTV we have in the pen for checking their behaviour, just to see what was happening when we weren’t around. I could see them all swimming and moving around the pen. I even saw the two juveniles from 2010, who we need to catch for re-homing and they are about, they are just avoiding the traps. It would also be ideal to catch the other kit from this year so that we can check it over and microchip it for any future catches.
The good news is I managed to have a really good night’s sleep and I'm feeling refreshed!
