Bee flies & grass snakes
On Wednesday 25 March Warden Suzi Lanaway reports lots of brimstone and red admiral butterflies and a couple of beeflies (pic above) in the sensory (herb) garden.There was also a pair of oystercatchers in the Bewick's Swan enclosure and grass snakes showing on the morning survey.
Wildlife sightings for Wednesday 25 MarchArun Riverlife: 2 lapwing on Arun riverlife lagoon (the female sitting on nest) and 1 male pochard
Lapwing hide: 6 lapwing from the lapwing hide – 1 female sitting, 1 pair mating and 2 males displaying
Ramsar hide: 4 lapwing (1 female sitting) and 5 greylag goslings with parents
Scrape hide: 2 shelduck (1:1), 7 Canada geese, 2 greylag, 34 black-headed gull, 4 male mallard.
Wetland Discovery area: 3 grass snakes, (1 on tranquil trail path, 1 on track behind willow arbour and 1 under tin 7)
