Bird sightings

A gloomy calm day on site with a little light rain, classic autumn conditions for bringing in new birds. There was a noticeable influx of Snipe with up to 40 birds being seen, also at least 31 Ruff, 2 Dunlin, Common and Green Sandpiper and a nice adult Golden Plover dropped in late afternoon in front of Ron Barker Hide.

Two juvenile Kingfisher this afternoon from Ron barker Hide (T. Disley)

Still 2-3 Marsh Harrier, juv male Sparrowhawk, several Common Buzzard and Kestrel.

Two juvenile Kingfisher showing well late afternoon from Ron Barker. Also between 400-500 Goldfinch being seen at the moment as well as good numbers of Stock Dove being seen around the Mere.

A few Willow Warblers moving through the site at the moment, also still Reed Warbler and Blackcap. Good numbers of Long-tailed Tits roving around the site along with Coal Tit and the usual Blue and Great Tits. Great Spotted Woodpecker also today.

Lookout for Migrant Hawker Dragonflies on the small pool right next to United Utilities hide, showing well today.
