Black Tern

South lake

Some pretty special bird watching here this morning. The Black Tern was very active on the lake often very close to the hide, there was a group of 8 Ruff many males with full ruffs of various colour all interacting and displaying. The Black tailed Godwits are looking great in there summer plumage and Avocets are busy with several incubating birds. A Common Sandpiper was close to the hide and Kingfishers are being seen regularly passing in front.

Holden Tower and walkway

Five Cranes have been flying around, a Snipe was on the Robbie Garnett with 4 Avocet and a Black tailed Godwit very close to the Holden on the Knott Pool.

Summer Walkway

Some very vocal Sedge Warblers here and a few lucky observers have been getting glimpses of a singing grasshopper warbler.

Rushy

Avocet dominating her with 9 birds this morning.
