The third record of Black-winged Stilt for the reserve
A Black-winged Stilt was a new arrival on the reserve today, previous records of up to six 19-23 April 2017 and another record of a pair prior to this. This bird was extremely mobile and was seen on almost every shallow waterbody on site.

53 Avocet, 3 Lapwing, pr Oystercatcher, 45 Canada Geese, 16 Greylag.
Knott Hide
Little Grebe pair with three chicks, singing and showing Reed and Sedge Warblers and a female Cuckoo 'bubbling' early morning.
Kingfisher Hide
Kingfishers still feeding young at the nest bank. 2 Cranes with chicks/chick in the hay meadow.
Top New Piece
Single Lapwing, 71 Shelduck, 8 drake and one duck Shoveler and 19 Black-headed Gull.
Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory
Cuckoo in the trees at the N end of lower pond 10:15, drake Garganey early morning with 28 Gadwall, 2 drake 1 duck Teal, drake Pochard, 12 drake 5 duckTufted Duck, pair Oystercatcher, 14 Avocet, Little-ringed Plover and a 2cy Mediterranean Gull.
Middle Point
Grey Plover, 12 Dunlin, 10 Sanderling and 4 Oystercatchers on the rising tide.
Red Kite over the grounds.
Wild Safari
sightings highlights today included- Black-winged Stilt (in flight), Hobby, Cuckoo, Reed Buntings, Redshank, Black-tailed Godwits, Marsh Harrier, drake Garganey two pairs of Cranes, Roe Deer, Broad-bodied, Scarce and Four Spot Chasers + Hairy Dragonflies and singing Lesser Whitethroat.
