Brambling

Two Brambling yesterday were new birds, hopefully still around but no reports today, photo by David Gibson.

Fabulous numbers of Pink-footed Geese coming and going on and off throughout the day was the highlight, with at least 4000 birds dropping onto the fields and the Mere.

Lots of Duck on the Mere including 100+ pintail, 1000 Mallard, Wigeon, Shoveler, Teal, Tufted Duck, Pochard and 6 juv Mute Swans as well as 27 Whooper Swan.

A Barn Owl was sat on fenceposts during the day from Ron Barker Hide

Two Brambling were new birds on the feeders at Janet Kear yesterday, no sign today but hopefully will reappear. Also 7 Avocets yesterday with 1 today.

Other sightings include pair of Stonechat in the fields behind Plover field. The Willow Tit is still being seen from Janet Kear Hide.

Tawny Owl was showing in the nest box on the walk to UU Hide. At least 3 Cetti's Warblers heard singing.

Up to 3 Little Egret on site and plenty of Grey Heron.

A Treecreeper was seen by the exit gate, also 12 Long-tailed Tit

3 Roe Deer were seen on a few occasions yesterday
