Another dry morning on the reserve. No sign yet of the American Wigeon, but there are huge numbers of Wigeon on site on the Folly Pond and especially at the Avenue Tower. Drake Green-winged Teal is on the Folly Pond. Yesterday a Kingfisher was fishing on

Highlights for 27 December
Lapwings over South Lake Late news for yesterday included the following highlights... The Dark-bellied Brent Goose was still with the Canada Goose flock on the Dumbles. A count of 221 Curlew on the mudflats was of note. The regular Little Stint was feed

Bird news
An early morning roost count of Whooper Swans revealed 1450 birds, most of these seem to be feeding off site during the day but using the site for roosting. The counts at the feed in the afternoon have been bringing in about 300 Swans. A count of roosting

A bright and sunny start to the day, with a fantastic orange sunrise. Yesterday's Otter could still be around, as the birds were very jumpy on the Whooper Pond this morning. Most of them were out of the water, and many of them were feeding off the reserve
