Reserve Update Saturday 16th December
Another cold and crisp start to the day! The Bewick's Swan has not been seen now since Tuesday but who knows with this cold snap it could draw more swans back onto the reserve. Whooper Swan numbers peaked for this year on Tuesday afternoon with over 2

Sightings
A juv/1st winter Great-crested Grebe was new in this morning on the Mere probably moved on from somewhere with the freezing temperatures overnight. Still 2-3 Goldeneye on the Mere most days including a fine looking male. A good showing for raptors with 3

Floods and Sunshine
The whole reserve is looking stunning again in the sunshine. Rushy Yet another increase of Bewick's Swan at least 69 overnight. Pochard, Pintail and Teal looking great and a Little Stint was with 4 Dunlin on the central island Holden Walkway What a differ

Recent Sightings (13th-15th Dec)
British Steel Hide Many Lapwing can be seen on the saline lagoons with a count of 125 on 15th. Also counted included 104 Black-tailed Godwit, 5 Redshank, 1 Knot, 3 Little Egret and 2 Cormorants. Other birds included over 150 Wigeon, 4 Shelduck, 2 Tufted
