Sightings
An excellent day on site, the European Whitefronted Goose was present in the morning with Pink-footed Geese before flying off. Also the drake Green-winged Teal was again from Ron Barker Hide. A Great White Egret flew through the site early morning heading

Bright frosty morning but thawing rapidly
Holden Tower High tide at 09.30 this morning pushed 1000 Wigeon onto the Dumbles edge. There were 180 Barnacle and 100 Canada Geese but no sign of the Brent so far. There were 20 GBB Gulls in the roost and 14 Redshank scattered along the edge. At least 6

After a cold night, the sun is out and the reserve looks great. Plenty of birds on the Whooper Pond, but the sun is just in the wrong place for counting the Folly Pond. The Green-winged Teal and American Wigeon could be out there but we can't see them at

Name a swan
WWT Martin Mere Wetland Centre currently have 1360 Whooper swans using the reserve with hundreds of them coming in for the daily swan feeds at 3pm and 3.30pm. Over the next two months, Martin Mere is running a competition for our visitors to name swan ‘
