Reserve Update Thursday 6th October - Barnacles are arriving
The influx of Barnacle Geese slowly crept up through the day yesterday with 1,200 recorded during this mornings count in Corner Field. These birds have now moved down onto the Merse and are best viewed from Saltcot Observatory. The Great Egret is also

Latest Highlights
Fabulous few days as the winds from the east produce great viewing conditions here in the west. No shortage of Pink-footed Geese although no specific counts since Monday's 21,000. A single Greenland White-fronted Goose was in with the Pinks yesterday.

A Yellow-browed Warbler at last and winter geese
Hearing news of so many Yellow-browed Warblers having arrived in the UK and even the West country we were expecting to finally see one here. This morning Andy and Gordon were on the hide rounds and heard and spotted a Yellow-browed Warbler in the canoe

Whooper Swans are still operating just to the north of the reserve near the end of the approach road, about a mile from the centre here. These can just about be seen from The Farmhouse Tower and have increased from yesterday's 12 up to 19. They're coming!
