The first bittern for winter has arrived today and has been seen in the reedbeds near the Welsh Water hide.

Woodcock and a few new waders.
Woodcock again from the Janet Kear Hide. Some new waders in with 7 Dunlin, 3 Black-tailed Godwit, Golden Plover, 12 Common Snipe, 1000+ Lapwing and 97 Ruff. The mega flock of 36,000 Wood Pigeon again around the edge of the reserve. Male Hen Harrier, Merli

Flock of siskin and a lone bittern
A fabulously festive flock of fifty siskin were spotted congregating fleetingly down at the amphibian ponds this morning. Flippin’ fantastic! Also, I’ve been told that a beautiful bittern flew west over Top Meadow yesterday. We had a male in our river
