In a long fought for decision, the UK Government will implement key legislation requiring new developments in England to include mini wetlands such as rain gardens and ponds to help prevent flooding of people’s homes and businesses.

WWT secures funding to help promote Natural Flood Management in the Thames Valley
Flood prone communities in the Thames River catchment as well as local wildlife are set to benefit from £1.5 million funding allocated from the Thames Regional Flood and Coastal Committee for natural flood management projects, facilitated by WWT expertise.

'Bluelight' for Eelscapes
We are pleased to announce that Eelscapes - restoring the Severn Vale’s wetland mosaics’ – has been awarded Defra funding to develop a landscape recovery scheme for the Severn Vale. The Wildfowl & Wetland Trust lead the project, with partners the Environment Agency, Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust and 14 land managers.

A tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II
All of us at the Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. We were honoured to have had the Queen as our Patron for many decades until 2016, when she passed on the role to her son, His Majesty King Charles III, then His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
