Brown long-eared bats hibernate in a hide
Survey of wintering bat population on Sunday showed four brown long-eared bats using the Sand Martin hide, along with other wildlife.

Bittern in the reedbeds
A bittern was spotted in the reedbed and this elusive heron was been seen again on Monday.

Hen harrier comes into roost
December moths, roosting laping and a predatory merlin chasing pied wagtails onsite last week. A female hen harrier has been showing up with the marsh harriers in the late afternoon to roost in the reedbeds.

Cormorant numbers high
Last Tuesday we hit a high of twelve cormorants between the Ramsar and Sand Martin hides. The cormorants are also fishing on the Arun Riverlife lagoon.

The winter pied wagtail roost has returned to the reedbeds.

Little egrets are roosting to the right of the Ramsar hide. They break up in the morning and spread around the reserve.

Wood sandpiper on Wednesday
