The North American green-winged teal is showing really well this morning right in front of the Folly Pond Hide. 960 teal, 174 wigeon, 40 shovelers also on the Folly pond making a great scene as the rain actually stopped for a while. A 9.9m tide is due to

3 waxwings eating hawthorn berries in Saltcot Loaning today
Great news, three waxwings eating hawthorn berries in Saltcot Loaning today. Hopefully the first of many sightings of these beautiful Scandinavian migrants. They can turn up in any location that has berries, supermarket car parks are a favourite!

Two little egrest were showing nicely on the Folly pond this morning as was the cracking male brambling with the chaffinches on the feeder in the farmyard. 5,670 barnacle geese were counted from the tower with at least twice that in the Caerlaverock paris
