Black-tailed Godwit chicks mark start of world-first captive breeding project
The eggs will boost critically low numbers of the UK’s breeding Black-tailed Godwit. Half of the birds headstarted in 2024 will be released in the Fens, with half making the journey to WWT Slimbridge for the captive breeding project.

Watery wetlands - how to enjoy them
After the winter rainfall, water levels had been high across the Ouse Washes to prevent and relieve flooding further upstream. This is a vital role performed by these wetlands, giving floodwaters a place to flow. Visitor access to and around WWT Welney

Path to Reedbed Hide is accessible, however the hide is not. All other hides are open. We are holding late night openings on Thursdays and closing at 8pm. It's a lovely way to unwind after a long day at work and great for your mental health!
