Chicks and ducklings
Spring is definitely underway with our first Moorhen chicks and Mallard ducklings being seen around the reserve. Keep an eye out for the youngsters on the Teal Pond and Back Pond.
Shelduck are congregating on the Folly Pond at the moment, and their fluting calls can be heard from the Saltcot Loaning. They will be looking for nesting sites, often in old rabbit burrows in the sea walls.
Swallows are nest building in the Teal Pond Hide again. If you sit quietly in the opposite corner of the hide, they will happily continue to build.
