Dolphin!

Middle Point

Over the high tide a Common Dolphin was seen, this marine mammal was ranging from the breakwater and out into mid channel but spent much of the time just North of the viewpoint. At low tide small numbers of Dunlin and Ringed Plover fed on the mudflats with 7 Bar-tailed Godwit, 100 Curlew and Little Egrets. A Great White Egret was seen in the morning fishing the tidal creeks and pools. Seven Ruff flew down channel on the afternoon Landrover safari.

Rushy Hide

Four Ruff, Spotted Redshank, Little Stint, 18 Lapwing, Redshank, Black-tailed Godwit, 300 Teal and 300 Mallard were among the highlights.

Tack Piece

A flock of 240 Greylag, 400 Teal and 46 Wigeon also contained a few Gadwall and a Pintail. They have been attracted by the grain tailings we dropped here on Friday. Many of these birds headed to the Rushy to roost for the day.

Zeiss Hide/Top New Piece

30 Ringed Plover including the leucistic bird, Curlew Sandpiper, 4 Little Stint, 143 Dunlin, 7 Avocet, 4 Redshank and varying numbers of Black-tailed Godwits, Ruff and Lapwing, 210 Wigeon, 23 Shelduck, 12 Pintail, 550 Teal and a few Snipe.

South Lake

Early morning saw 133 Shoveler, 7 Avocet,  17 Ruff,  3 Snipe, 142 Lapwing, 2 Curlew Sandpiper, 100 Black-tailed Godwit, 21 Redshank and 8 Pochard.

Landrover Safaris

The Common Dolphin, 3 Snakes, Kingfisher, Marsh Harrier, Curlew, Little Egrets, Grey Herons, Hobby, Peregrine, Sparrowhawk, Kestrel and Migrant Hawkers and Common Darters.
