More incoming migrants about today

South Lake

A Common Tern fed over the deep lake late morning, the Black-tailed Godwit flock fluctuated in number as they moved to Top New Piece, Tack Piece and the Rushy. Around 20 Dunlin came in over high tide with 78 Avocet interested in nesting, two pairs of Oystercatcher on territory and two Snipe from Hogarth Hide. A 3cy Mediterranean Gull was on the lake in the afternoon. The first summer drake Goldeneye was seen but flew into the grounds, a drake Pochard remains.

Estuary Tower

164 Dunlin/Ringed Plover + a Sanderling, s grounded flock of Lesser BB Gulls on the sands, 24 Avocets, 15 Curlew, 4 Cranes, a few Lapwing and Oystercatcher on the Dumbles and 3 Willow Warbler, two Chiffchaff and a Blackcap singing

Tack Piece

A drake Garganey was reported this afternoon, still lots of ducks feeding here including 40 Wigeon and 84 Shoveler + Teal, Tufted Ducks, Gadwall, Shelducks, Mute Swans and 6 Curlew

Rushy Hide

The moulting Spotted Redshank + Redshank, Black-tailed Godwits, Avocets and a pair of Oystercatchers. A pair of Pochard and a drake Pintail.

General

A flock of over 80 Sand Martins roamed the reserve to feed with 20+ Swallows for company.

Top New Piece

29 Avocets, pair of nesting Cranes, Black-tailed Godwits, 2 Lapwing, Shoveler, Teal and Gadwall.

Knott Hide

Sedge Warbler singing.

Canoe Trail

Blackcap and Sedge Warblers singing.

South Finger

Singing Willow Warbler + Blackcaps pairing up and 3+ Chiffchaff along the pathway.
