Evening speakers announced for Slimbridge’s Festival of Birds 2013

Two well-known wildlife experts will be giving evening talks as part of Slimbridge’s Festival of Birds later this month.

 

Mark Avery

Mark Avery will kick off the weekend festival with his talk on the Friday evening (Jan 25th) titled ‘Fighting for birds – 25 years in nature conservation’.

From his career, including time as RSPB’s Conservation Director, Mark has gained a deep insight into the environment and the organisations and individuals who influence it.

He will sign copies of his new book of the same name following the talk.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Mike Dilger

Mike Dilger, wildlife star of the One Show will be giving an evening talk on the Saturday evening (26th) after he has spent the day at the Festival.

In his talk ‘the Trials and Tribulations of a TV Naturalist’ he promises to reveal everything you wanted to know about filming wildlife.

It features clips from some of his best known programmes and readings from his currentbook ‘My Garden and Other Animals’.

 

 

 

 

 

Both talks start at 7pm and cost £15, which includes a glass of wine.

On Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 January Slimbridge will celebrate its wealth of wildlife at the Festival of Birds.

Although normal rates of admission apply, visitors will have the chance to see a huge range of talks, demonstrations and activities. There will be lots of stalls selling outdoor and birdwatching equipment and they can visit our expert guides in the hides.
