Visits from migrating waders

We have had brilliant wader sightings this week: 1 wood sandpiper, 6 x black-tailed godwits, 3 x spotted redshank, and 3 x green sandpipers.

With the arrival of some much welcomed rain here at the reserve, we have had brilliant wader sightings over the last week. The team have spotted a wood sandpiper, 6 x black-tailed godwits and 3 x spotted redshanks dipping in and out of the folly pond, as well as 3 x green sandpipers in teal pond.

As well as this, 67 curlews and 30 lapwings have been counted in the meadows near whooper pond and a water rail was seen on the back pond last weekend. It was great to hear of a sighting of a wall butterfly, which is not commonly seen on the site.
