Farmland Birds

An early morning walk around the edge of the reserve produced the first Grey Partridge (2) of the year, also Red-legged Partridge too. A mixed flock of Corn Bunting (10+), Yellowhammer (2), Reed Bunting (4), Linnet (6+), Skylark and Meadow Pipit were feeding in the field margin beyond the Long Hedge and the Railway Crossing.

The ring-tail Hen Harrier was hunting early afternoon.

Goosander on Woodend Marsh was new for the year. The Martin Mere year list is now on 107.

Another Swallow heading North today. Also 6 Sand Martin.
