First Little-ringed Plover of 2018

A Little ringed Plover arrived on the Dumbles yesterday, this species overwinters in southern Spain and Africa. This hardy individual continued to show around the scrape, this morning it was feeding on the shore of the Tack Piece flash and viewable from Robbie Garnett Hide, also seen on the Top New Piece from Zeiss Hide this afternoon, they can be very mobile!

Rushy Hide

A 'new in' Ruff, pair of Lapwing, pair of Oystercatcher, 27 Pintail, 4 Pochard and two Snipe were among the highlights today.

Tack Piece

300+ Wigeon,  at least 105 E. White-fronted Geese, Red-breasted Goose, 1 Ruff, 15 Dunlin, 24 Redshank and 40 Curlew on the field and floods.

Water Rail seen today, nearby from the viewing slots in the wall the Jack Snipe had reappeared.

Holden Tower

20 Avocet, 120 Wigeon, 12 Lapwing and 12 Buzzard.

South Lake

Pair of Great Crested Grebe, pair of Little Grebe, 2 Oystercatcher, 320 Black-tailed Godwit, 7 Pochard, 8 Cormorant and 120 Black-headed Gulls.

Zeiss Hide

18 Avocet, 2 Oystercatcher, 8 Laowing, 45 Teal, 130 Wigeon, 4 Black-tailed Godwit and 2 Snipe.
