First Willow Warblers of the year

Migrants

Our first Willow Warbler of 2018 was singing below the Holden Tower this morning, a second bird could be heard from the Kingfisher Hide. An increase in Chiffchaff was obvious, at least six singing birds around the site. Sand Martins were lingering over the Top New Piece and a few Swallows have gone through today.

Holden Tower

A flock of Barnacle Geese, 38 Wigeon, 9 Avocet and a pair of Oystercatcher on the Dumbles. 14 Great Black-backed Gull roosted over the tide.

Tack Piece

105 Curlew, 27 Redshank, 39 Shoveler, 219 Wigeon and small numbers of Shelduck and Teal.

Martin Smith Hide

Coal Tit and Goldcrest by the bridge this morning.

Rushy Hide

Pair each of Oystercatcher and Lapwing

South Lake

At least 5 Mediterranean Gulls (four 2nd summer), 330 Black-tailed Godwit, 55 Avocet, Snipe, 4 Oystercatcher.

Kingfisher Hide

A pair of Kingfisher seen regularly today, 2 Little Grebe, 10 Lapwing and 2 Little Egret. 31 Shoveler from Hogarth Hide.

Zeiss Hide

65 Wigeon, 20 Teal, 14 Avocet and 8 Snipe.
