Flurry of Spring migrants

Another day with a number of newly arrived spring migrants plus those that are staging here. We still have a few winter visitors on site.

Rushy Hide/Peng Observatory

Our first pair of Garganey for the year! Spotted Redshank, 4 Avocet, 9 Black-tailed Godwit, 3 Redshank, 2 Pintail. Tack Piece- Ruff, 9 Redshank, 2 Curlew, 2 Black Swan, 100 Wigeon, 60 Teal, 30 Shoveler

Tack Piece

The Spoonbill again, three Little-ringed Plover from Robbie Garnett Hide (previously on the Dumbles) and 3cy Mediterranean Gull+ 20 Sand Martins feeding over. 5 Pintail, c70 Wigeon, 50 Teal, 30 Shoveler, Tufted Ducks, Shelduck, 2 Curlew and a Pochard on the scrape.

South Lake

At least 12 Cattle Egret commuting between here and entrance fields/Shepherds Patch this morning, also Snow Goose, 108 Avocet, c300 Black-tailed Godwit, 4 Oystercatcher, 180 Black-headed Gull + Teal and Shoveler.

Estuary Tower

Little-ringed Plover, 2 White Wagtail, 4 Pied Wagtail, 21 Meadow Pipit, 4 Skylark and 4 Goldfinch around the scrape, 121 Russian White-fronted Geese + Barnacle Goose, Grey Plover, 5 GBB Gull 20 Dunlin and five Ringed Plover on the foreshore over high tide.

Marsh Harrier and Peregrine hunting the Dumbles, Red Kite through over South Lake and Grounds SW, it or another back N later. 9+ Lapwing, 29 Curlew and 6 Oystercatcher on the Dumbles

Grounds

At least one Redpoll on the loopway, 2 Siskin flew low over Matrix, c20 Chiffchaff singing about the site. A Red Kite flew over the tower heading NE.
