Friday update

Pink-footed Goose numbers up slightly today, with at least 2,000 birds present early evening, although numbers can be very difficult to estimate and there may be many more.

At least 2 Green Sandpipers, a Greenshank 2 Little Ringed Plovers, and 30+ Ruff along with 600+ Lapwings and similar numbers of Black-tailed Godwits on site. Lots of Snipe as well, but as the majority of Snipe remain hidden for the majority of time, numbers were impossible to estimate today. Nevertheless great views can be had with a little patience from many parts of the reserve.

Kingfisher showing well on and off throughout the day from the Ron Barker hide, where a Barn Owl was also seen hunting well into the day (10.30am at least).

3+ Marsh Harriers still present today

Willow Tit still regularly seen from the Janet Kear hide.

Other less often noted birds today included Blackcap and Great Spotted Woodpecker.
