Further Bewick's Swan departures

With more birds leaving overnight we are down to 64 Bewick's Swans at the roost this morning. Last night 114 were present at 6.15pm (see pic below). The top lake held 100 Pochard and 150 Tufted Duck with 147 Pintail also present.

Tack Piece

150 E.White-fronted Geese, 26 Curlew, 6 Redshank, 400 Wigeon and small numbers of Pintail and Teal. 65 Linnet feeding in the hollows with weed seeds, occasionally resting on the hedges.

Holden Tower

6 Curlew, 6+ Lapwing (displaying males), 180 Barnacle Geese, 4 Canada Geese and single Redshank. Passerines feeding around the Dumbles scrape included 20+ Meadow Pipit and 6 Skylark, a single female Reed Bunting accompanied them.

South Lake

25 Avocet, 220+ Black-tailed Godwit, 86 Lapwing, 2 Redshank, 2 Dunlin, 1 Snipe and 4 Oystercatcher were on the scrape, 40 Shoveler, 40 Teal and 8 Gadwall on the Duck marsh.

Zeiss Hide

Wigeon 310 and a few Snipe.

Kingfisher Hide

The Bottom New Piece field was busy with 18 Ruff, 175 Golden Plover, 85 Lapwing, 500 Dunlin and 8 Curlew as well as 40 Wigeon.
