Glaucous Gull

A second calendar year (2cy) Glaucous Gull was on the sands until 0840 when it flew upriver

124 European or Russian White-fronted Geese flew in to feed at 0850am, the Red-breasted Gosse was among the Barnacle Geese. A few Skylark were on the Dumbles and a female Stonechat was along the foreshore.

South Lake

Roosting waders on the frozen wader scrape included 131 Black-tailed Godwit, 400 Lapwing (including the leucistic bird) and a Dunlin, the duck marsh was devoid of birds. The Avocets were on the deep lake side of the causeway with many gulls and duck species such as Shelduck. A single White-fronted Goose was present until it flew off toward the Dumbles.

Tack Piece

Two Oystercatcher, 300 Lapwing, a Reeve, 1 Little Stint, 9 Redshank, 450 Wigeon, 90 Teal, 40 Pintail, 12 Shoveler and 30 Dunlin early morning, some open water present and will get busier during the day.

Zeiss Hide

90 Teal and 6 Snipe first thing this morning, the flood was completely frozen.

Rushy Hide and Peng Observatory

83 Bewick's Swans still on site today, c100 Pochard and 80 Pintail early but the diving duck flew off to the Long Ground Pool and South Lake.
